Weekly Goals - Week of 7/28/08

My goals for this week are simple. They are the same as last week's goals. I did complete some of them, but I need to finish the rest. I am not sure where the time goes. It seems I come to the end of the week, look at my goals and see that I have not completed everything I wanted.

Here are my goal with what I did and what I want to do:

Goal 1: Walk 75 minutes. Last week I walked 50 minutes. I will try to walk the full 75 minutes this week.

Goal 2: Work on organizing coupons. Last week I worked on this quite a bit. I still need to finish this. Most of my coupons are in my new binder, but I need to put the rest in there.

Goal 3: Something fun with the girls. Last week we took the girls to the Rend Lake beach to have a picnic with some friends. Ryan took Cassidy and Callie swimming. We all had a good time. This week, we are having one of the girls' friends over. They are super excited about it.

Goal 4: Keep a food journal. I did some of this last week. I have about 2 days of journaling. I am going to do my best to have more days this week. I know it will help me loose weight, because I can see what I am eating each day and adjust it.

Goal 5: Be more encouraging to my family. I am working on this and I need to continue to work on this. I am not sure why it seems so hard sometimes. Please pray for me.

Goal 6: Clean out and organize cabinet. I cleaned and organized the cup cabinet last week. This week I organized the cabinet with the kid's stuff.

Goal 7: Go to the recycling center. I went last week twice. They were not open. I hope someone will be there this week.

Goal 8: Make Chloe a little tag blanket. I did not get to this last week. I hope to complete it this week.

Goal 9: Find a place for extra diapers and put them there. I did find a place to put extra diapers and I put them there. The place is now full and I have more diapers. So this week, I want to find a place for the rest of the diapers.

Goal 10: Iron 5 shirts or pants. I have no good excuse for not completing this last week, but I will work on it this week.

Walgreens - 7/25/08

I did 4 transactions this morning at Walgreens. I got up and was reading about the overlap of the Easy Saver Catalog today and tomorrow only. I decided to go and get a few things.

This picture is of my 1st, 2nd, and 3rd transactions. Cassidy set up the diapers and took a picture. She was so excited to help.
1st Transaction (I messed up a little here):
  • 2 packages Walgreens training pants @ $5.99 each
  • 1 package Wagreens diapers @ $7.69 on clearance (the big pack, I should have gotten the smaller pack so I could use my coupons)
I used the coupons for $5.00 off 2 diapers in the July and the August Easy Saver catalogs. Each coupon took $2.50 off the training pants.

Total: $11.19 - used my gift card from last month
I also earned $5.00 register reward for purchasing 3 packages of diapers.

2nd & 3rd Transactions (these are both the same):
  • 3 packages of Walgreens diapers @ $5.99 each
I used the July and August Easy Saver Catalog coupons. Each one took $2.50 off each package of diapers.

Total (for each transaction): $4.36
I earned $5.00 register reward for purchasing 3 packages of diapers on each transaction.

So for buying the diapers, I have a total of $15.00 register rewards toward another purchase. I used them on my next transaction.

4th Transaction (the prices reflect this weeks sales):
  • Crayola Markers @ $2.00
  • 3 packages of pencils @ $0.19 each
  • 2 packages of paper clips @ $0.19 each
  • 2 L'oreal Vive Hydro Gloss shampoo @ $4.99 for both (sale - BOGO)
  • 3 rulers @ $0.19 each
  • 2 Pantene Shampoo $ 4.00 each
  • 2 Dixie Plates @ $3.79 for both (sale - BOGO)
  • 6 bags of Hershey's Reese's Peanut Butter Cups @ $2.50 each
  • 2 bags of M&M candy @ $3.00 each
  • 6 pads of paper @ 3 for $1.00
Coupons Used:
  • $1.00 off 2 M&Ms (July Easy Saver Catalog) = $1.00
  • $1.00 off 2 M&Ms (August Easy Saver Catalog) = $1.00
  • $1.00 off 2 Hershey's (Easy Saver Catalog) = $3.00
  • $3.00 off 2 packages of Dixie plates (printed at Walgreens) = $3.00
  • $4.00 (should have been $4.99) BOGO L'oreal Shampoo = $4.00
  • 2 - $2.00 off Pantene Shampoo = $4.00
  • $15.00 from the first 3 transactions
Total: $14.03

So here is a breakdown for this trip.

Total for this trip: $33.94
Gift card amount used (from last month): $12.08
Total rebate I will receive from the above purchases: $11.00

So $33.94 - 12.08 - 11.00 = $10.86

Not bad for 9 package of diapers/training pants, shampoo, school supplies, candy and paper plates. Plus the Reese's candy had the bonus movie ticket points on them. I will be sending them in for 2 free movie tickets.

For other great deals, check out Money Saving Mom and The "Cent"sible Sawyer.

UPDATE: I had a request for a running total of my items purchased and my coupons used. I started to do this and then decided to just take pictures of my receipts. Hopefully they will explain everything. Click to enlarge the pictures.

Transaction # 1:
Transaction #2:
Transaction # 3:
Transaction # 4:

TOTALS:
$11.19 (transaction 1)
$4.36 (transaction 2)
$4.36 (transaction 3)
$14.03 (transaction 4)

Add these together and get: $33.94

I used a gift card I had from last month. The amount was $12.08.

I am going to get rebates credited to my gift card in the amount of $11.00 from this trip.

So if you take my total and subtract the amount of my gift card from last month and my rebates for this month, you will get: $33.94 - $12.08 - $11.00 = $10.86

I am also going to mail in the points on the candy to get 2 free movie tickets.

Ryan's 1st Couponing Experience

Check out Ryan's post. He was very proud of his first use of coupons. I am proud of him also.

Cheap Deodorant

Our Kroger had Secret Deodorant on sale this week for $2.49 each and they are part of the Proctor & Gamble promotion going on now. If you buy 3, the you get $3 off you total. That would put them down to $1.49 each. I also had coupons for $0.50 off each one that Kroger doubles. That gave me 3 Secret deodorants for $0.49 each plus tax.

Free Huggies Clean Team Wipes

I had a few coupons for $1.00 off any Huggies Clean Team product. I usually get some bathroom wipes from Wal-Mart $1.64. That would mean I only have to pay $0.64 for each package. This past week, I went to K-Mart and found these Huggies Clean Team wipes for $0.99. These are for hands and face. There are only 10 wipes in each package, but they are nice and thick. I used my $1.00 off coupon for these, making them FREE.

Freebie from diapers.com

UPDATE: Sorry, this deal is no longer valid. You now have to buy $49 in order to apply the $10 off. I am sorry if you missed the deal.

You can get a something for free right now at diapers.com. It even carries over to shipping which is $4.99. If you choose something that is less than $5.00, then you can get it for free. I ordered and I did not have to even put in my credit card number. Just enter the promotion code AMYJ3166 and it will give you a $10.00 credit.

There are many things that are under $5.00. There are toys, wipes, pacifiers, bottles, and many other things. Take a look and place your order. I ordered a toy phone for Chloe.

Leave me a comment and tell me what you ordered.

More Cheap Baby Wipes

With the Proctor & Gamble promotion going on this week at Kroger, I decided to get a few more packages of baby wipes. The wipes were on sale for $2.61 each. When you buy 3 products, then you get $3 off your order. That put them down to $1.61 each. Then I had 3 coupons for $0.50 off and Kroger doubles the coupons, that was another $1.00 off each package. So I got 3 packages for $0.61 each.

Cheap Shampoo & a Pedicure?

Herbal Essences Shampoo has a promotion going on right now, if you buy 2 bottles of shampoo and/or conditioner, then you get a certificate for a free manicure or pedicure. I have been looking for the bottles of shampoo with the green sticker on it for a while. (You have to buy the ones with the promotion listed.)

Kroger has Herbal Essences shampoo on sale this week 2 for $5.00. I had a coupon for $3.00 off 2.

So I got 2 bottles of shampoo, 2 bottles of conditioner, and 2 manicures or pedicures for only $4.78.

Wow, what a deal!

Update: I found out that the Herbal Essence Shampoo is a part of the Proctor & Gamble promotion. If you buy 3 in one order, then you get $3 off. If I would have bought 3, then my total before coupons would have been $7.50. Then I would have got the $3.00 off for the promotion and I could have still used my $3.00 off 2. My total then would have been $1.50 before tax. You would only need 2 with the Manicure/Pedicure label, the third one could be anything. You could do this 2 times if you want 2 free manicure or pedicures. You have to send in the original receipt, so you would need to to 2 transactions.

UPDATE #2: Someone in our local area tried to get the $3.00 off when they bought 3 Herbal Essences Shampoos, but it did not work. I guess it was not a tagged item.

Diaper Deal

Our Kroger has Pampers on sale this week for $8.88, regular price is $9.99. They also have a Proctor & Gamble promotion going on this week. When you buy 3 participating items, you get $3.00 off your total instantly, making each package only $7.88. Of course, I also had coupons. I had 2 - $2.00 coupons, 3 - $1.50 coupons, and 1 - $1.00 coupon.

Here is what the diapers cost:
  • 2 packages were $5.88 each
  • 3 packages were $6.38 each
  • 1 package was $6.88
Total price before sales and coupons: $59.94
Total price after sales and coupons: $37.78
Total savings: $22.16 (37%)

Great Customer Service

Today I went to Kroger with my mom. I was helping her get a couple of deals. She wanted to make sure she bought the right things. She was buying the 4 bags of Hershey's candies to get the free movie voucher. It did not print. I asked the cashier and he said it would print at the end. It did not. He basically said that without the promotion details in front of him, he could not do anything about it. I told him I would find the details and take it to the service desk. I was not upset, just a little annoyed that it didn't work.

I looked up the promotion when I got home. I made sure she bought the right sizes of bags of candy. She bought everything correctly. I decided to call Kroger. I talked to a very nice lady who said she would look into it and call me back. When she called back, she said she printed a voucher out for me and it was waiting at the service desk or she could put it in the mail.

WOW!! That is great customer service. I was prepared for a little bit of a fight, but just having the information I needed and calling Kroger was all I needed to do.

Amy's Life was found by Google

I was looking for details about the free movie promotion that Kroger and Hershey has going on now. My mom bought the candy and the movie voucher did not print, so I wanted to make sure she bought the right bags of candy.

Imagine my surprise when I saw my blog on the Google search page. I was so excited, I had Ryan look at it. Then I thought I would share it with everyone who reads my blog. It is at the bottom of the picture.

You still have time to get your free movie ticket from Kroger and Hershey. You have to buy 4 bags of Hershey candy. They have to be 10.5 oz to 17.25 oz and it has to be done in one transaction.

Kroger Deals

I thought I would share a couple of deals from Kroger I got this week.

This first picture shows what I got using my Planters coupons I told you about HERE. I paid $2.28 (including tax) for everything in the picture and got a coupon that printed out at the checkout for $4.00 off my next order. WOW!! I made money on this one.

This second picture is of some of the candy you can buy this week at Kroger and receive a voucher for a free movie ticket. It is a promotion Kroger and Hershey's have. The candy cost me $8.00 plus tax. There is a bonus also, with some of the bags of candy there are points printed on them. When you collect 15 points, you can mail the points and a form in and get another free movie ticket. Each of these bags are worth 5 points.

So, for $8.00 plus tax, I got 4 bags of candy and will get 2 free movie tickets. Another great deal.

These deals are good through the end of this week at Kroger. The points on the bag candy are good for a while longer.

Free Movie Monday

Today (Monday, July 7) you can get a free rental from your local Redbox. Today's code is:

FW72JG

To find where there is a Redbox location, click HERE. You can also search movies that are available at this location.

To rent with this code, you touch the lower left corner where it says "Rent with a Promo Code" then you can enter the code. Then choose your movie. You are required to swipe either a credit or debit card. You have to use a debit or credit card because they want to charge you if you do not return the movie. You have to return it by 9pm on Tuesday if you do not want to be charged.

You can actually rent more than one movie with this code just use a different credit or debit card.

Weekly Goals - Week of July 7, 2008

I did not complete all my goals from last week. Cassidy, Callie and I were all sick this past week. Chloe was also a bit cranky and not herself, I guess because she had shots on Monday. We are all feeling better and hope to make this week a productive one.

Here are my goals for this week (some are repeats from last week):

  • 1. Walk 75 minutes
  • 2. Buy Ryan shoes or have him buy them
  • 3. Clean out car & vacuum
  • 4. Iron 10 shirts
  • 5. Organize coupons
  • 6. Upload pictures to CVS & order prints
  • 7. Do something fun with the girls (Chuckie Cheese? or Bowling?)
  • 8. Encourage or compliment Cassidy each day
  • 9. Encourage or compliment Callie each day
  • 10. Encourage or compliment Ryan each day

I want to start encouraging people more and I thought I would start with my own family. I sometimes find myself being negative. I want to be an encourgement, not a discouragement to people especially my husband and children.

Planter's Nuts Coupons

There is a great coupon for Planters Nuts. You get $3.00 off any Planters product (9 oz or larger) when you buy 3 Kraft, Nabisco, or Oscar Mayer products. This includes Kool Aid and Jello. You can view a complete list of products HERE.

There are several links. You should be able to print one or two from each link, so you should be able to stock up on nuts. This is a 4th of July promotion, so you should print these coupons as soon as you can. They could end this at any time.

Here are the links:
Kroger has another great deal with the Planters Nuts. You buy Planters Nuts (excluding sunflower seeds, baking nuts, & trail mix) and you get a coupon for $ off your next order. This runs until 7/13/08.
  • Buy 3 Planters, Get $4.00
  • Buy 4 Planters, Get $5.00
  • Buy 5+ Planters, Get $6.00

Walgreens Diapers

I finally went yesterday to try the Walgreens Diapers deal. I bought 3 packs of Walgreens diapers for $5.99 each. I used the $5.00 off 2 packages coupon in the July Easy Saver Catalog. It actually took off $2.50 from each package of diapers. Then I used a coupon from a coupon booklet found in the pharmacy for $2.00 off 1 package. It actually took $4.00 off my order. So here is what I got:
  • 3 packages of diapers for $5.99 each = $17.97
  • Coupon $2.50 off each package = $7.50
  • Coupon $2.00 off 2 packages = $4.00
  • $17.97 - $7.50 - $4.00 = $6.47 with tax it was $7.55
That is not bad for 3 packages of diapers. I also got a $5.00 register reward to spend next time.
